About
Department of Education awarded a contract to Workskills Training & Development for the delivery of nationally recognised vocational education and training in 2011 under the Skills Tasmania Skills Equip Program.
The contract covered delivery of equity-focused VET programs and reflected the program's intent to enable registered training organisations to tender to deliver a range of nationally recognised training.
The training targeted priority cohorts including people with a disability, people with mental health issues, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, sole parents returning to work, older people, migrants and refugees, people living in rural areas, prisoners/offenders reintegrating into the community, and people with low language, literacy and numeracy levels.
The Skills Equip Program directed funding to registered training organisations to deliver accredited, equity-focused VET to diverse disadvantaged cohorts, highlighting the Department of Education's focus on using accredited providers to reach priority groups.
