About
Department of Education awarded a contract to Training and Development Australia for delivery of training under The Skills Fund in 2014.
The contract formed part of a competitive funding program designed to reduce skill shortages, increase productivity and efficiency in industry and enterprises, assist job seekers to acquire skills and lasting employment, and be responsive to the needs of enterprises and individuals.
The award related to the Demand Led Program, a significant Tasmanian Government investment in vocational education and training targeting two streams: job seekers (with applications available to Registered Training Organisations or RTOs in partnership with Job Search Australia/Disability Employment Service providers or community groups) and existing workers (with applications available to industry associations, regional groups or employers in partnership with RTOs).
The contract therefore covered delivery of demand-led vocational training to both job seekers and existing workers through arrangements permitted under the Skills Fund program.
Awards under the Skills Fund reflected a focus on demand-led, employment-oriented vocational training and therefore tended to favour training providers able to deliver accredited programs and form partnerships with employment services, community groups or industry stakeholders.
