Department of Education awarded a contract to Tas TAFE for delivery of The Skills Fund training in 2014.
The Skills Fund was a competitive funding program representing a $6.1 million Tasmanian Government investment in vocational education and training for Tasmania.
The program aimed to reduce skill shortages and increase productivity and efficiency of industry and enterprises, assist job seekers to acquire skills and lasting employment, and be responsive to the needs of enterprises and individuals.
The funding targeted streams for full qualifications for job seekers (applications by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) or RTOs in partnership with Job Search Australia/Disability Employment Service providers or community groups) and for full qualifications and/or skill sets for existing workers (applications by Industry Associations, regional groups or employers in partnership with their RTO).
The program structure explicitly enabled RTOs and partnership arrangements to deliver training across both job seeker and existing worker streams, and Tas TAFE, as an RTO, was an eligible recipient under those streams.
