About
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development awarded a contract to Nullspace Technologies Pty Ltd (The Trustee for Radaelli-De Sousa Trust) for updating and utilising an existing numerical groundwater model for the Weaber Plain (Goomig) Development Project.
The consultancy aimed to identify sources of groundwater recharge leading to shallow water tables, assess the need for dewatering measures, and evaluate impacts on groundwater levels.
The project used existing models developed by Kellogg Brown Root (2011) updated with new data, focusing on areas where trigger criteria for groundwater levels and salinity were exceeded.
This contract highlights the importance of specialised hydrogeological modelling in managing agricultural water resources, particularly in regions with salinity and waterlogging issues.
