Public Transport Authority awarded a contract to RGB Assurance Pty Ltd for Independent Safety Assessor services on the North Fremantle Station (Down Main) Pedestrian Crossing Relocation project.
The project relocated the protected Down Main pedestrian crossing closer to North Fremantle Station and aligned it with the existing Up Main crossing, and relocated the unprotected Leighton Siding pedestrian crossing to the repositioned alignment.
The works addressed an existing configuration of staggered, at‑grade pedestrian crossings spaced approximately 73 metres apart and aimed to enhance connectivity of the Principal Shared Path (PSP) along Congdon Street to Curtin Avenue, improve station access for pedestrians and cyclists, and reduce barriers for people with disabilities, parents with prams, and elderly users.
RGB Assurance was engaged as PTA’s Independent Safety Advisor during the key phases of the project to provide independent safety oversight.
The appointment of an Independent Safety Advisor underscored the project's focus on safety and accessibility; aligning staggered crossings targeted known barriers for vulnerable users and improved cyclist–pedestrian integration with the PSP.
