About
Department of Communities awarded a contract to Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre (Aboriginal Corporation) for engagement and outreach support services to assist communities impacted by the January 2023 ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie floods in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Under WA’s Emergency Management Arrangements the Department was responsible for coordination and provision of emergency relief and support services during the Response and Recovery phases, and the contract provided services to support recovery and resilience for flood-impacted community members and residents through community engagement, outreach and support activities.
The contract was awarded to a Kimberley Aboriginal organisation, showing the Department's use of a local Aboriginal service provider for engagement and outreach in this recovery effort.
