About
WA Country Health Service awarded a contract to GRAMS (Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service) for the provision of clinical services to improve detection, monitoring and management of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other high-risk communities.
The contract, valued at $3.726 million from 2017/18 to 2020/21, included delivery of secondary prophylaxis antibiotics, education and training for healthcare providers and communities, data collection for national monitoring, and maintenance of a state-wide patient register and recall system.
This contract reflects a targeted approach to addressing rheumatic heart disease in Indigenous communities, with GRAMS being a key Aboriginal community-controlled health service provider in the region.
