Department of Health (Royal Street) awarded a contract to Murdoch Childrens Research Institute for identifying and providing the WA Department of Health with timely insights into community sentiment during the roll out of the 2026 WA Influenza Nasal Spray Vaccination Program, which provided intranasal influenza vaccines (FluMist®) for children 2 to 11 years.
The contract work enabled WA DOH to prioritise, design and deploy appropriate information for immunisation providers to address emerging questions and concerns from the public.
The award reflected a focus on infodemic readiness—using community sentiment insights to inform clinician-facing communications during a paediatric intranasal influenza vaccine rollout.
