About

Department of State Growth awarded a contract to N/A for the release of new owner-operator taxi licences across all Tasmanian taxi areas in accordance with Section 23 of the Taxi and Hire Vehicle Industries Act 2008.

The Transport Commission made additional licences available in each taxi area equal to 5% of the total number of perpetual taxi licences and owner-operator taxi licences then on issue in the relevant taxi area.

In line with Section 23(3), the Transport Commission did not accept any tender below the Reserve Price for a licence in any area.

The licences were required to be operated by the holder, who had to be a natural person, and were not permitted to be leased or assigned.

The licences could be cancelled or suspended in prescribed circumstances without compensation.
