About

Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources awarded a contract to N/A for the release of new owner-operator taxi licences under Section 23 of the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 2008.

The contract covered making additional owner-operator taxi licences available in all Tasmanian taxi areas, with the number of licences offered in each taxi area set at 5% of the total number of perpetual taxi licences and owner-operator taxi licences then on issue in that area.

The Transport Commission required that no tender below the Reserve Price be accepted for a licence in any particular area.

The licences were required to be operated by the holder (a natural person), could not be leased or assigned, and could be cancelled or suspended in prescribed circumstances without compensation.
