Department of Treasury and Finance awarded a contract to Wilson Cook & Co Limited for a review of Aurora Energy's capital expenditure, maintenance and operating costs for distribution services.

The review assessed the proposed capital, maintenance and operating programs in the context of Aurora Energy's long-term asset management strategy to assist understanding of the financial impacts of the Regulator's upcoming distribution price determination.

The award noted that the existing Determination made in December 2003 expired on 31 December 2007 and that draft Terms of Reference proposed the next determination would run until 30 June 2012 (a four-and-a-half-year term).

The Regulator had sought a consultancy opinion on whether Aurora Energy's proposed programs were appropriate and adequate and to recommend expenditure allowances for Aurora Energy.
