About
Far West Local Health District awarded a contract to Mission Australia for the Safe Haven After-Hours Cafe, a peer-based, recovery-oriented service providing a safe, demedicalized cafe or lounge space for individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or distress who do not require intensive clinical support, offering an alternative to emergency department visits after hours.
This contract reflects a growing trend in mental health service delivery toward non-clinical, peer-supported crisis alternatives, aiming to reduce emergency department burden.
