About

Primary Industries and Regions South Australia awarded a contract to Globus Australia Accommodation Services for the supply and installation of a custom-built mobile facility assembled from prefabricated modular units (or modified shipping containers) to support SARDI Entomology’s sterile insect production on Kangaroo Island.

The facility was designed by SARDI Entomology to produce X‑ray irradiated sterile sheep blowfly (Lucilia cuprina) using sterile insect technology (SIT) for operations between 2022 and 2026 aimed at eradicating the fly and associated sheep fly‑strike from Kangaroo Island.

The contract covered delivery and installation of a relocatable modular assembly with the capability to be moved off‑island after eradication for redeployment elsewhere in South Australia.

The procurement was conducted as a selective tender based on the outcome of a prior EOI process.
