About

Hume City Council awarded a contract to Walter J Pratt Pty Ltd for the supply and installation of a removable pool floor at the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

The scope included design, documentation, compliance, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, engineer approval, handover, and guarantee of a colour-matched FRP removable pool floor covering the shallow end of the existing 25m indoor pool, approximately 12m x 12m, providing a water depth of 1000mm with a transition to 1300mm via two steps.

The work involved site measurements, coordination with pool operators, preparation of shop drawings, submission of samples and technical schedules, insurance certificates, and OHS plans.

The floor featured a bare foot Class C slip resistance surface finish per AS4586, with permissible openings ranging from 1mm to 7mm or greater than 20mm.

Installation was performed without emptying the existing pool, including barricading, temporary signage, and modification of pool signage.

An installation manual and all warranties and guarantees were provided.
