SA Health awarded a contract to SAHMRI for the supply of 18F‑Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F‑FDG) radiopharmaceutical for the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Service operated by SA Medical Imaging (SAMI).
The contract (Contract ID: DH049409 / SAH2020-559) covered reliable supply of 18F‑FDG to SAMI’s existing PET sites, including the Royal Adelaide Hospital PET service that scanned approximately 25 patients per day, of whom about 85% were injected with 18F‑FDG.
SAHMRI was selected as the sole contractor.
The agreement was a five-year arrangement comprising a three-year fixed term with two one-year extension options and a stated completion date of 4 January 2027 (base term of 3 years from the Commencement Date plus two one-year extension options).
The contract secured multi-year sole-source supply for a radiopharmaceutical that accounted for roughly 85% of PET tracer use at RAH, highlighting the importance of continuity of specialised radioactive consumables for high-throughput clinical PET services.
