Defence is informing industry about potential alternative finance delivery opportunities for a number of major infrastructure projects as part of implementing the National Defence Strategy 2026. The Government has identified approximately $5 billion over the forward estimates and $15 billion over the decade in projects for which Defence will prioritise developing alternative financing delivery options; alternative financing is described as a way to access private sector expertise, support the sovereign defence industrial base, manage large upfront capital outlays and better align delivery milestones, performance outcomes and asset utilisation. Defence emphasises it is not soliciting proposals at this stage and the publication of this notice does not represent a commitment by the Commonwealth to proceed with any procurement activity, alternative finance delivery model or project outcome. Projects under consideration include Littoral Manoeuvre Facilities (LAND8710PH5), Garden Island Defence Precinct (GIDP) Project (EST02060), Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Storage Program of Works – WA Deep Storage (ESTJP2092PH1), RAAF Base Learmonth (ESTW6) and Theatre Logistics Alice Springs and Central Queensland (ESTJP8218) (the Theatre Logistics project has a separate notice on AusTender: RFI/2026/ASCQ).
