About
NSW Department of Communities and Justice awarded a contract to AbSec - NSW Child, Family and Community Peak Aboriginal Corporation for the Aboriginal-Led Commissioning (ALC) initiative.
The initiative aims to give Aboriginal communities decision-making power in the design, delivery, and monitoring of programs and services, under the Closing the Gap Priority Reforms.
It will be implemented over two phases: Phase 1 involves strategy, design, and planning; Phase 2 trials the model by commissioning service delivery in partnership with a cross-agency steering committee.
This contract reflects a shift towards community-led governance in public service delivery, with AbSec, an Aboriginal-controlled organization, leading the design and trial of a commissioning model that prioritizes self-determination and cultural embedding.
