About
Department of State Development awarded a contract to MICHAEL TSOUPAS for an Algal Bloom Fisheries and Aquaculture Assistance Grant that provided up to $225,000 to eligible fisheries and aquaculture licence holders who had been unable to catch or harvest their usual volume, had to stop operations due to extended harvest closures, or had their licence fees waived.
The grant was intended to meet fixed costs and overheads, including utilities, rent, finance and interest payments.
Successful recipients were required to enter into a grant agreement with the Minister for Small and Family Business, administered by the Department of State Development, to receive the approved grant.
The Chief Executive, Department of State Development approved an exemption from disclosure/redaction of insurance details and licence numbers in grant agreements under Section 22.4 and 22.5 of Premier and Cabinet Circular 027 on the grounds of public interest and legal risk.
The award represented targeted financial relief administered by DSD to fisheries and aquaculture licence holders affected by algal bloom impacts; the contract structure required formal grant agreements and included a disclosure exemption for sensitive insurance and licence information.
