Department of Communities awarded a contract to Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia Ltd for co-developing the Western Australia Implementation Plan for the National Child Investment Strategy and supporting implementation of Safe and Supported: the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2021–2031 in WA.
The contractor co-developed with Communities the WA Implementation Plan for the National Child Investment Strategy; worked in partnership with Communities on the development of jurisdictional plans for Delegated Authority and on Active Efforts for the implementation of all five Elements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle (ATSICPP) as specified in actions 1 and 5 of the Safe and Supported Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander First Action Plan; and co-developed a WA Safe and Supported Partnership Agreement between Safe and Supported WA Aboriginal Leadership Group members and Communities to support ongoing implementation of Safe and Supported in WA.
The award placed an Aboriginal-led service organisation in a co-design and partnership role for jurisdictional planning and ATSICPP-related implementation, reflecting a policy emphasis on Indigenous-led collaboration for delivering national child-protection frameworks at the state level.
