About
Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts awarded a contract to Braddon Business Centre for three years of enterprise centre funding (2007–2010) to deliver high-quality business advisory services to the start-up and micro business sector of the Tasmanian business community.
The agreement required the provider to deliver information, assistance and referral services to prospective and existing micro businesses (including referrals to and from the department), assist in developing local business management skills, establish networks and connections between businesses and the department, support local economic development projects aimed at creating jobs and local economic growth, and encourage an entrepreneurial and innovative culture.
Funding was provided by way of a negotiated grant based on a written submission, and applicants were required to demonstrate access to other funding sources to support full program delivery.
Contracts of this type supported local enterprise centres to deliver advisory, referral and networking services and typically favoured organisations with local networks and capacity to secure co-funding, reflecting a government focus on small-business development through targeted grant agreements.
