Public Transport Authority awarded a contract to Fortec Australia Pty Ltd for the supply, fabrication and installation of protective screening on the William Street (Horseshoe) Bridge and Barrack Street Bridge at either end of Perth Train Station.

The works implemented X‑Tend mesh screens with profiled outward‑angled structural posts installed inside the existing bridge balustrades, with colour‑matching and other measures to minimise visual impact and comply with heritage requirements for the heritage‑listed structures.

The project was delivered to reduce trespass and the throwing of objects into the rail corridor, enhance safety for the public and rail staff, improve service reliability, and protect critical infrastructure.

The contract scope included preparation of Project Management Plans, a dilapidation survey of surrounding infrastructure and assets prior to works, and compliance and coordination with relevant heritage, planning and authority requirements.
