Health Support Services awarded a contract to NEC Australia Pty Ltd for the provision of an on-site hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platform to support the transition of Mount Lawley Hospital from private to public operation on 31 August 2026.
The contract required a fit-for-purpose HCI solution to support critical clinical and operational systems, specifying enterprise-grade compute, fault tolerance, operation across multiple server rooms, an on-premises witness node, and sufficient storage capacity with room for expansion.
Alignment to reference architectures (1+1+1, 2+2+1, or 3+3+1) was preferred.
The scope included supply of all necessary hardware, software, licensing and components to deliver a fully operational platform; optional services included detailed design, build and short-term support through to August 2026.
A draft design was required by 6 March 2026, and build activities were to commence following design acceptance and hardware delivery.
The contract bundled supply of hardware, software and licensing with optional design/build/support and set a near-term draft-design milestone, which pointed to a procurement preference for suppliers capable of delivering integrated, on-premises HCI solutions with defined delivery milestones.
