Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment awarded a contract to Three Capes Lodge Walk Pty Ltd for the development and operation of a commercial guided walking experience on the Three Capes Track.
The contract covered delivery of a four day / three night fully guided walk to showcase the outstanding natural features of the Tasman National Park and to provide a superior standard of accommodation.
The walk was specified to be achievable for a wider market appeal than Tasmania's other iconic bushwalks.
The Three Capes Track was being constructed to a high quality 'dry boot' standard to enable a range of ages and abilities to experience the coastal walk.
The contract placed a commercial tourism operator responsible for both developing the visitor product and operating guided services on public park infrastructure, illustrating a public–private delivery model for national park visitor experiences.
