Department of Communities awarded a contract to Advocare Incorporated for the WA Elder Abuse Helpline and Information Service.
The contract provided a free-call helpline and information service offering help, information and advocacy for older people who were experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, elder abuse, and made the service available to the general population to access support and referral pathways related to elder abuse.
The arrangement fulfilled the Australian Federal Government requirement for each state to maintain its own Elder Abuse Helpline.
State elder-abuse helpline contracts implemented federal requirements and commonly relied on specialist community advocacy organisations to deliver accessible information, advocacy and referral services for older people.
