DCJ is seeking a non-government organisation to deliver an Inmate Property Service (IPS) that retrieves, securely stores and returns personal property for people in custody who lack family, friends or other community support. The IPS addresses situations where people enter custody unexpectedly, often on remand, leaving belongings at residences, with third parties, or in police possession, and where correctional centres have limited capacity to store items on site; the service aims to help retain ownership of important property, support a smoother transition into custody, preserve identity and dignity, and reduce practical barriers to reintegration.
