About
Murrindindi Shire Council awarded a contract to Prestige Paving Pty Ltd for the renewal of the decorative 'Fossil Walk' pathway in Yea.
The works include removal of the majority of the existing 62 m long, 1.2 m wide non-reinforced coloured concrete path shaped like a snake and decorated with ceramic artwork.
The initial 58 m will be replaced with a reinforced coloured concrete footpath matching the snake shape, 1.2 m wide, conforming to council's standard drawings.
The path will be marked with text at colour transitions, and conduits will be placed under the path for future educational signage.
The surrounding garden will be reinstated upon completion.
This contract focuses on preserving a unique local asset, with the council encouraging creative decoration within the 'Fossil Walk' theme and retention of existing decorative elements, indicating a value placed on community heritage and aesthetic continuity.
