Indigenous Youth and Family Workers to Support Youth Justice Diversion
Awarded 01 Oct 2022
About
DCYJMA awarded a contract to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service Brisbane Limited for the provision of Indigenous Youth and Family Workers (IYFW) under the Family Wellbeing Service.
The IYFW will engage with adolescents at risk of or already in contact with the youth justice system, support case planning, and foster connections with youth justice and support services.
The service aims to assist families in developing plans that address risk factors and re-engage young people with positive support networks, aligning with the Queensland Youth Justice Strategy to reduce over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
The contract, valued at $352,803 and procured through a limited process, includes participation in IYFW Reference Group meetings managed by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families Commissioning Team.
