Department of Human Services (DHS) awarded a contract to Uniting Country SA Limited for the provision of Intensive Family Services (IFS) as part of the Child and Family Support System (CFSS).
The contract covered delivery of high-intensity case management and practical support for children (pre-birth to 17 years 11 months) and their families assessed as at high risk of deepening contact with statutory child protection across the Yorke and Mid North and Far North state government areas.
Services aimed to increase child safety and wellbeing by addressing child safety concerns, improving parenting capacity and family functioning; IFS identified the child/ren as the primary client(s) and operated holistically with all family members where safe and appropriate.
The CFSS framework delivered non-statutory services through a combined system of government, non-government organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, with a priority focus on young parents (mothers under 23, fathers under 25), families of infants at high risk in their first 1000 days, Aboriginal families with multiple and complex needs, and young people experiencing vulnerability.
The award aligned with CFSS’s collaborative delivery model that engaged NGOs and ACCOs to provide locality-based, intensive case management for priority vulnerable populations, underlining a government emphasis on community-sector delivery of high-intensity family supports.
