DCSSDS awarded a contract to Kalwun Development Corporation Limited for the provision of two full-time Connecting Kin Officer positions.
These officers provide case management to support the search for and engagement of family members for children and young people under 18 years who are subject to the Chief Executive’s custody or guardianship under the Child Protection Act 1999 and who are not yet in the care of family members as approved carers, or who would benefit from enhanced family connections.
The officers also support family connections and identification of prospective kinship carer households through timely expenditure of brokerage funding consistent with the Family Based Care (Kinship Care) brokerage guidelines.
The Connecting Kin Officers work in partnership with the DCSSDS South East Region Placement Services Unit, Child Safety Service Centres, and the Finding Kin team to support the delivery of the region's Keeping KINnected project.
