Provision of Specialised Foster and Kinship Care Support Services

DCSSDS awarded a contract to The Corporation of the Synod of the Diocese of Brisbane for specialised services and support, providing 100 total places consisting of 80 General Foster and Kinship Care places and 20 high-plus places.

The high-plus support places are expected to provide additional and practical 'wrap-around' support for the care of a discrete number of children and young people with higher level needs, on a time-limited basis, to maintain care arrangements and prevent placement breakdown.

This additional support might include access to extra training, direct worker support in the carer's home and/or assistance with transport arrangements.

Brokerage Support for General foster and kinship care places assists carers to meet the care and support needs of children and young people leading to stability in placement, assists carers to support young people as they move through the childhood development stages, access in-home support where required and meet transport requirements to maintain links with school, community and therapeutic services.

Brokerage Support funding of $15,000 per annum is allocated to provide support across this service.

Brokerage Support is not a high plus placement, not counted using placement or bed night measures, not an Intensive Foster Care placement, and not provided through youth workers.

The contract value is $1,532,687 and was procured via a limited procurement method.
