Delegated Child Protection Services for Palm Island Children and Young People
Awarded 30 Jun 2027
About
DCSSDS awarded a contract to Palm Island Community Company Limited for specialised services and support to deliver a service delivery model for delegated authority for children and/or young people from Palm Island who live on Palm Island or the mainland.
The service model comprises ongoing co-design, planning and delivery of practice responses and administration required to support the provision of functions and powers of the chief executive (Child Safety) under the Child Protection Act 1999 delegated to the CEO of PICC.
The specific delegations for each child will be considered by the CEO of PICC in co-ordination with DCSSDS on a case-by-case basis and outlined in the Instruments of Delegation.
The service model will implement practice responses, day-to-day activities and support and administration associated with these functions and powers, and will partner with relevant CSSCs to implement delegated authority arrangements.
Flexibility will be retained to offer supports to family and support networks of children and young people who may reside outside these CSSC catchments on a case-by-case basis.
The service delivery model will be underpinned by a co-designed operational agreement, draw upon the supplier's existing service delivery and cultural strengths, draw upon its existing strong and collaborative relationship with CSSCs, and comply with all relevant legislative requirements.
The objective is to deliver the practice associated with delegations to the CEO of PICC for a minimum of ten (10) children.
The contract value is AUD 3,482,713 and was procured via a limited procurement method.
