DCSSDS-SDS awarded a contract to Alternate Care Pty Ltd for the provision of specialised services and support, specifically four non-family based care placements for young people aged 12 to under 18 with high to complex needs.

The service operates across two properties, each housing two placements, with one care worker per property providing 16 hours of awake support and an 8-hour sleepover shift, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year.

The model focuses on identifying longer-term needs and goals to facilitate early exit options such as foster care, other residential models, transition to independence, or reunification.

It also ensures culturally safe support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and encourages engagement in education, training, or employment.

The contract value is AUD 4,814,043, procured through a limited method.
