DCSSDS awarded a contract to Mercy Community Services SEQ Limited for the provision of specialised services and support for children and young people with complex/high support needs.

The service outlet provides four places at any one time, with 24-hour support, 7 days per week, including at least one worker on at all times, 16 hours per day, plus 8-hour sleepover shifts, and extra staff support during school holidays, weekends, and public holidays.

The service also provides culturally safe and secure support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and young people to maintain cultural identity and connection to family and community, and encourages engagement in education, training, or employment, supporting educational and/or vocational activities where needed.

The contract value is AUD 4,689,972, procured via a limited procurement method under the Social Services category.
