Department of Human Services (DHS) awarded a contract to Kornar Winmil Yunti Aboriginal Corporation for Intensive Family Services (IFS) delivered under the Child and Family Support System (CFSS).
The contract delivered high-intensity case management and practical support for children (pre-birth to 17 years 11 months) and their families who were at high risk of deepening contact with statutory child protection and where there were high to very high child safety concerns.
The service aimed to increase child safety and wellbeing by addressing child safety concerns, improving parenting capacity and family functioning.
IFS identified the child/ren as the primary clients and operated as a holistic service working with all family members where safe and appropriate.
The CFSS was described as a combined system of non-statutory services and supports delivered by government, NGOs and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, with priority focuses on young parents (mothers under 23 years and fathers under 25 years), infants at high risk in their first 1,000 days, Aboriginal families with multiple and complex needs, and young people experiencing vulnerability who were at risk of having children who may enter the child protection system.
The service under this contract operated across Western Adelaide and Northern Adelaide.
The contract was awarded to an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, aligning supplier profile with the CFSS priority focus on Aboriginal families and community-controlled delivery; the award targeted high-intensity, child-centred case management across two metropolitan government areas.
